How to Manage App Permissions on iOS

Secure your data by auditing and managing app permissions on your iPhone. Follow these steps to control access to your camera, location, and photos.

  1. Open Privacy Settings. Unlock your device and open the Settings app. Scroll down and tap on the Privacy & Security menu to view all granular system permissions.
  2. Examine Sensitive Hardware Categories. Select a specific category, such as Location Services, Camera, or Microphone. Review the list of applications currently authorized to access these hardware components.
  3. Adjust Access Permissions. Tap the name of any app to modify its specific access level. Select Never, Ask Next Time, or While Using the App to restrict or grant permissions according to your security requirements.
  4. Inspect App-Specific Permissions. Return to the main Settings menu and scroll to the bottom to find the list of installed applications. Tap an individual app to see a centralized dashboard of every permission that specific app has requested and been granted.
  5. Review App Privacy Report. Navigate back to Privacy & Security and tap App Privacy Report. Toggle the feature on to view a historical log of how often apps have accessed your data in the last seven days.
