How to Enable Cookies in Safari
Enable cookies in Safari on Mac or iPhone. Step-by-step instructions to allow websites to store cookies for better browsing.
- Open Safari Preferences. Launch Safari from your Applications folder or Dock. Press Command+Comma to open Preferences immediately. The Preferences window appears as a floating panel.
- Go to the Privacy tab. Click the Privacy tab at the top of the Preferences window. This section controls Safari's tracking prevention and cookie settings.
- Find the Cookies and Website Data section. In the Privacy tab, look for the Cookies and Website Data area. You will see radio button options for managing how Safari handles cookies from websites and third parties.
- Choose your preferred cookie setting. Select Always Allow for unrestricted cookie access, or Allow from Websites I Visit to accept cookies only from sites you actively browse. Avoid Never Allow unless you specifically need to block all cookies.
- Confirm the setting is saved. Close the Preferences window by pressing Command+W or clicking the red close button. Safari automatically saves your selection. Reload any open website to activate the new cookie setting.
- Test cookies on a website. Visit a website that requires login or stores preferences, such as your email service. If you remain logged in after closing and reopening the browser tab, cookies are working properly.
