How to Import Passwords Into Google Chrome

Learn how to import your saved passwords from a CSV file into Google Chrome securely and efficiently.

  1. Enable the password import flag. Open Chrome and type chrome://flags into the address bar. Locate the Password import feature and toggle the setting to Enabled, then click Relaunch to restart the browser.
  2. Access password settings. Click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the browser window. Select Settings from the dropdown menu, then navigate to the Autofill and passwords tab on the left sidebar.
  3. Open the Password Manager. Select Google Password Manager from the list of options. This opens the central vault where your credentials are stored and managed.
  4. Locate import options. Click the Settings icon located in the top-right corner of the Password Manager interface. Scroll down to the Import passwords section and click the Select File button.
  5. Upload and verify the CSV file. Choose your exported CSV file from your local storage and confirm the selection. Chrome will validate the file structure and import the credentials into your synced account.
  6. Finalize and delete the source file. Once the import completes, close the browser settings. Immediately delete the source CSV file from your computer to prevent unauthorized access to your plaintext credentials.
