How to Create a Reusable Project Template in Notion

Standardize your workflow by creating a reusable project template in Notion. Follow these steps to set up database templates for consistent project tracking.

  1. Open the database template menu. Navigate to the database where you want to create a template. Click the arrow icon next to the blue New button in the top right corner of the database view, then select + New template from the dropdown menu.
  2. Define template properties and content. Give your template a recognizable name in the title field. Set default values for properties like Status, Priority, or Assignee, as these will pre-populate whenever you use this template.
  3. Build the page layout. Click inside the page body and add the structure you need for every project. Use headings, checklists, and linked databases to create a standardized workspace layout.
  4. Set the template as default. If you want this template to be the automatic choice for all new entries, click the triple-dot icon next to your template name. Select Repeat and choose the frequency, or set as default for specific database views.
  5. Apply the template to a new project. Create a new page in your database. You will see a list of available templates in the page body; click the name of your new template to instantly apply the predefined structure and properties.
