How to Organize Chrome Tab Groups
Learn to manage browser clutter by creating, naming, and color-coding Chrome Tab Groups for maximum workflow efficiency.
- Initialize a new group. Right-click on any active tab in the tab bar at the top of the browser window. Select Add tab to new group from the contextual menu that appears.
- Name and color-code the group. Enter a descriptive name for the group in the text field provided. Click on one of the available color bubbles to assign a visual identifier to the group container.
- Populate the group with tabs. Drag and drop additional tabs into the colored border of the established group. Alternatively, right-click any tab, select Add tab to group, and choose the destination group from the sub-menu.
- Collapse and expand groups. Click the name or color label of the tab group once to collapse it, hiding all contained tabs from view. Click the label again to expand the group and reveal its contents.
- Ungroup or close tabs. Right-click the group label and select Ungroup to return tabs to the general bar, or select Close group to remove all tabs within the group simultaneously. Choosing Delete group removes the container but keeps the tabs open.
