How to Use Arc Browser Effectively
Master Arc browser's unique features including Spaces, vertical tabs, Split View, and productivity shortcuts for enhanced browsing efficiency.
- Set up your first Space. Click the + icon at the bottom of the sidebar to create a new Space. Name it something specific like 'Work' or 'Personal'. Each Space maintains separate tabs, bookmarks, and browsing sessions. Switch between Spaces using Cmd+1, Cmd+2, or click the Space names in the sidebar.
- Master vertical tab management. Tabs appear in the left sidebar, not across the top. Pin important tabs by right-clicking and selecting 'Pin Tab' - these stay at the top of your tab list. Unpinned tabs automatically archive after 12 hours of inactivity. Drag tabs up and down to reorder them.
- Use the Command Bar for instant navigation. Press Cmd+T to open the Command Bar. Type website names, search terms, or commands. Arc predicts your destination and shows recent sites. Type specific commands like 'new note' or 'capture' to access Arc's built-in tools quickly.
- Enable Split View for multitasking. Right-click any tab and select 'Split Right' or 'Split Down' to view two pages simultaneously. Alternatively, drag a tab to the right edge of the window until the split preview appears. Each split can navigate independently. Close splits by clicking the X in the split divider.
- Organize with Folders and customize appearance. Create folders in the sidebar by right-clicking and selecting 'New Folder'. Drag related tabs into folders to group them. Customize your Space's appearance by clicking the Space name, then 'Edit' to choose themes, icons, and colors that match your workflow.
- Configure tab archiving and restore settings. Access Settings by pressing Cmd+, and navigate to 'General'. Adjust auto-archive timing from 12 hours to 1 hour, 24 hours, or never. Enable 'Restore tabs on startup' to maintain your session across browser restarts. Set your preferred search engine and homepage preferences.
- Use Arc's built-in productivity features. Access Notes by pressing Cmd+N or typing 'new note' in the Command Bar. Use Easel for visual collaboration by typing 'new easel'. Capture screenshots or record screens with Cmd+Shift+5. These tools integrate directly into your browser workflow without external apps.
