How to Resolve Website Loading Errors

Fix websites that fail to load with these troubleshooting steps for clearing cache, verifying network status, and bypassing DNS conflicts.

  1. Perform a hard refresh. Bypass the browser cache to force a fresh download of site resources. On Windows, press Ctrl + F5. On macOS, press Command + Shift + R.
  2. Test in Incognito mode. Open a new Incognito or Private window to determine if browser extensions are interfering with page scripts. If the site loads here, disable your browser extensions one by one to find the conflict.
  3. Clear browser cache and cookies. Corrupted local data often prevents pages from loading. Navigate to your browser Settings, select Privacy and Security, then Clear Browsing Data. Select 'Cached images and files' and 'Cookies' for 'All time'.
  4. Flush your DNS cache. Clear your system's stored IP addresses to resolve connection failures. On Windows, run 'ipconfig /flushdns' in Command Prompt. On macOS, run 'sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder' in Terminal.
  5. Check your proxy or VPN settings. VPNs and proxy servers can route traffic through unresponsive nodes. Disable your VPN client or system proxy settings in Network Preferences to verify if the obstruction is at the network routing layer.
