How to Remove Browser Extensions

Clean up your browser by removing unnecessary extensions. Follow these steps for Chrome, Safari, and Firefox to improve performance and privacy.

  1. Remove extensions in Google Chrome. Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner. Navigate to Extensions and select Manage Extensions. Locate the extension you wish to remove and click the Remove button, then confirm the action in the pop-up dialog.
  2. Remove extensions in Safari. Open Safari and select Safari > Settings from the menu bar. Click the Extensions tab to view all installed components. Select the extension in the left sidebar and click the Uninstall button.
  3. Remove extensions in Mozilla Firefox. Click the three-line hamburger menu in the top-right corner of Firefox. Select Add-ons and themes from the menu. Locate the extension, click the three-dot menu icon adjacent to it, and select Remove.
  4. Verify the removal. Refresh your browser tab or restart the application to ensure the changes are active. Confirm the extension icon no longer appears in the browser toolbar or the extensions management page.
  5. Clear browser cache. Navigate to your browser's history or privacy settings. Select Clear Browsing Data and choose Cached images and files to remove remnants left behind by the removed extension.
