How to Reset Network Settings on Windows 11

Resolve persistent Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and connectivity issues by resetting your Windows network stack to factory defaults in five minutes.

  1. Open Windows Settings. Press the Windows key on your keyboard and select the Settings gear icon. Alternatively, press Windows + I to open the application directly.
  2. Access Network settings. Within the Settings sidebar, click on Network & internet. Locate and select the Advanced network settings option near the bottom of the list.
  3. Find Network reset. Under the More settings section, click on Network reset. This tool removes and reinstalls all network adapters and returns other networking components to their default settings.
  4. Initiate the reset. Click the Reset now button next to Network reset. A confirmation dialog will appear; click Yes to proceed with the operation.
  5. Reboot your machine. Windows will schedule a system restart automatically. Ensure all open documents are saved and close all applications. Select Close when prompted, then manually restart your PC if the automatic timer does not trigger within 60 seconds.
  6. Reconfigure network connections. After the system reboots, click the Network icon in the Taskbar. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter your security key to reconnect. You may need to re-enter credentials for VPN or proxy services.
