How to Update Apps on a Fire Tablet
Update apps on your Fire Tablet manually or automatically. Keep your applications current with the latest features and security patches.
- Open the Appstore. On your Fire Tablet home screen, swipe down from the top to open the quick actions menu. Tap the Apps icon (grid symbol), then select Appstore. The Amazon Appstore launches.
- Check for updates in the My Apps section. In Appstore, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left. Select My Apps. The My Apps page shows all installed applications and displays an Updates tab if new versions are available.
- Review available updates. Tap the Updates tab to see all apps with available updates listed by name and version number. Review the list to understand which apps will be updated. Each entry shows the app name and new version details.
- Update individual apps or all apps at once. To update a single app, tap the Update button next to its name. To update all apps simultaneously, tap Update All at the top of the Updates tab. Tap Confirm when prompted. Updates download and install automatically.
- Enable automatic app updates. In Appstore, tap the menu icon and select Settings. Scroll to Automatic Updates and toggle the switch on. Choose whether to update over Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and mobile data. Apps now update automatically when new versions are released.
- Verify apps are updated. Return to My Apps and confirm the Updates tab is empty or shows no pending updates. Open an app to confirm the update installed successfully and the app launches without issues.
