How to Fix Windows Store Not Opening

  1. Reset Windows Store cache. Press Windows key + R to open Run dialog. Type wsreset.exe and press Enter. A blank Command Prompt window opens and runs automatically. Wait for the process to complete—this takes 30-60 seconds. Windows Store opens automatically when finished.
  2. Run Windows Store Apps troubleshooter. Open Settings with Windows key + I. Navigate to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Click Windows Store Apps and select Run the troubleshooter. Follow the on-screen prompts to detect and fix issues automatically.
  3. Check Windows Update service. Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Scroll down to Windows Update service. Right-click it and select Properties. Set Startup type to Automatic and click Start if the service is stopped. Click OK and restart your computer.
  4. Reset Microsoft Store app. Open Settings with Windows key + I. Go to Apps > Apps & features. Search for Microsoft Store in the list. Click Microsoft Store and select Advanced options. Scroll down and click Reset. Confirm by clicking Reset again when prompted.

Press Enter and wait for completion. Restart your computer.
  6. Check date and time settings. Right-click the clock in system tray and select Adjust date/time. Enable Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically. If already enabled, disable and re-enable both settings. Restart Windows Store to test.
  7. Create new user account as final solution. Open Settings and go to Accounts > Family & other users. Click Add someone else to this PC. Select I don't have this person's sign-in information, then Add a user without a Microsoft account. Create a local account, then sign in to test Windows Store functionality.
