Fix Windows driver problems with Device Manager, automatic updates, and manual installation. Step-by-step guide for resolving driver conflicts and errors.

  1. Open Device Manager. Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the menu. Alternatively, right-click This PC, select Properties, then click Device Manager in the left panel. Look for devices with yellow warning triangles or red X marks indicating driver problems.
  2. Identify problematic devices. Expand each category to find devices marked with warning signs. Right-click the problematic device and select Properties. Check the Device status section for specific error codes like Code 10, Code 28, or Code 43.
  3. Update drivers automatically. Right-click the problematic device and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for drivers. Windows will search online and install compatible drivers if available. Restart your computer when prompted.
  4. Roll back recent driver updates. If problems started after a recent update, right-click the device in Device Manager and select Properties. Go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver. Select a reason for rolling back and click Yes. Restart your computer to complete the process.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall the device. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device. Check Delete the driver software for this device if you want to remove corrupted drivers completely. Click Uninstall, then restart your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall the device automatically.
  6. Run Windows Update. Press Windows key + I to open Settings. Navigate to Update & Security and click Check for updates. Install all available updates, including optional driver updates. Restart your computer after updates complete.
  7. Install drivers manually from manufacturer. Visit the device manufacturer's support website and download the latest driver for your specific model and Windows version. Run the installer as administrator or extract the files and use Device Manager's Browse my computer option to locate the driver folder.
