How to Resolve Firmware Update Failures on Wearables

Resolve firmware update errors on your wearable device with these troubleshooting steps to restore connectivity and functionality.

  1. Verify network connectivity and power status. Ensure both your mobile device and wearable are connected to a stable 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi network. Place the wearable on its charger and ensure the battery level is above 50 percent, as most devices block updates when the battery is low.
  2. Perform a hard restart on both devices. Power off both your smartphone and the wearable device completely. Wait 30 seconds before powering them back on to clear temporary cache files and reset the Bluetooth handshake protocol.
  3. Clear temporary update files in the companion app. Navigate to the Settings menu within the device's companion application on your phone. Locate the Storage or Manage Downloads section and delete any pending firmware update files to force the app to fetch a fresh, uncorrupted version from the server.
  4. Refresh the Bluetooth pairing state. Go to your smartphone Settings, select Bluetooth, and tap the Info (i) icon next to your wearable. Select Forget This Device, then restart the companion app and follow the on-screen prompts to re-pair the device.
  5. Initiate the firmware update manually. Return to the companion app and navigate to the Device Settings or System Update menu. Select Check for Updates to initiate the download and transfer process while keeping the devices in close physical proximity.
