Maximize your smart camera utility by configuring storage, motion detection, and AI notification settings to fit your security needs and budget.

1. Evaluate your video retention requirements. Determine the necessary cloud storage window for your security model. Navigate to Settings > Subscription > Retention and select a duration that covers your typical review cycle. Most users require 14 to 30 days of history for effective incident investigation.
2. Define motion detection zones. Access your camera feed and select Motion Settings > Activity Zones. Draw specific polygons over high-traffic areas like entryways and disable zones covering streets or swaying trees. This prevents unnecessary cloud uploads, saving bandwidth and storage space.
3. Enable advanced event classification. Within the camera settings, toggle on Person, Vehicle, and Package detection. By filtering for specific intelligence, the camera only saves critical clips to the cloud. This optimizes your subscription's storage capacity for high-priority alerts.
4. Set notification frequency. Navigate to Notification Settings and adjust the alert interval to avoid notification fatigue. Setting a cooling-off period of 2 to 5 minutes between clips prevents multiple uploads of the same event. This reduces battery drain and cloud usage.
5. Audit your plan tier. Go to the Billing section of your camera app to review your current plan tier. If you consistently use less than 50% of your cloud storage, downgrade to a lower-tier plan. Conversely, if you frequently hit storage caps, upgrade your plan to prevent data loss.
