How to Fix Google Home Device Not Found Errors
Troubleshoot and resolve Google Home device not found connectivity errors with these steps to restore your smart home connection.
- Verify your Wi-Fi network. Ensure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Google Home device. If your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, verify that both devices are on the identical frequency to prevent local network discovery failure.
- Power cycle your hardware. Unplug the power cable from your Google Home device. Wait 60 seconds before reconnecting the cable to force a clean boot of the device's network interface.
- Enable Local Network Access. On iOS, navigate to Settings > Google Home and ensure Local Network is toggled On. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Google Home > Permissions and ensure Nearby Devices is set to Allowed.
- Restart the Google Home application. Force close the Google Home app on your smartphone to clear cached discovery data. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open the app switcher, locate the Google Home app, and swipe it away to terminate the process before reopening it.
- Refresh the setup process. In the Google Home app, tap the Plus (+) icon and select Set up device. Choose New device and allow the app to scan for available hardware; if the device appears, follow the on-screen prompts to re-establish the connection.
