How to Protect Browser Passwords on Mac

Secure your web credentials on macOS by enabling Touch ID authentication and removing vulnerable password storage methods. Ensure maximum browser security.

1. Require Touch ID for Safari AutoFill. Open Safari and select Settings from the menu bar. Navigate to the AutoFill tab and ensure that 'Usernames and passwords' is checked. Verify that 'Require Touch ID or password to fill passwords' is enabled in the Safari Settings security preferences.
2. Enable Biometric Unlock in Google Chrome. Launch Google Chrome and click the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner. 5. Secure Your Local Mac Account. Browser security is only as strong as your Mac login. Navigate to System Settings, click 'Lock Screen', and set 'Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off' to 'Immediately'.
