How to Customize Trackpad Gestures on Mac
Optimize your workflow by configuring custom trackpad gestures and settings on macOS. Follow these steps to tailor your navigation experience.
- Open System Settings. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen. Select System Settings from the dropdown menu to open the control panel.
- Locate Trackpad Preferences. Scroll down the sidebar on the left side of the window. Click on the Trackpad menu to view your hardware configuration options.
- Adjust Point & Click Settings. Select the Point & Click tab. Adjust the Tracking speed slider to dictate how fast the cursor moves relative to your finger movement, and choose your preferred Click pressure.
- Define Scroll & Zoom Gestures. Switch to the Scroll & Zoom tab. Enable Natural scrolling to align the content movement with your finger direction, or disable it to mimic traditional mouse behavior.
- Manage More Gestures. Select the More Gestures tab. Review the list of system interactions, such as Swipe between pages or App Exposé, and toggle the switches to enable or disable individual gesture support.
- Test Your Configuration. Close the System Settings window. Perform your newly configured gestures across your desktop to ensure they function as intended.
