How to Restore an iPhone from a Mac Backup

Restore your iPhone data from a Mac backup using Finder. Follow these steps to recover your files and settings securely.

  1. Connect your iPhone to your Mac. Use a compatible USB cable to connect your iPhone to your Mac. If prompted on your iPhone, tap Trust and enter your device passcode to authorize the connection.
  2. Open the device in Finder. Open a new Finder window. Locate your iPhone in the sidebar under the Locations section and select it to view the device management screen.
  3. Disable Find My iPhone. Navigate to the General tab in Finder. You must disable Find My in your iPhone Settings under [Your Name] > Find My > Find My iPhone before proceeding with a restore.
  4. Start the restore process. Within the General tab of the Finder window, click the Restore Backup button. If prompted to close Find My, confirm you have completed the previous step.
  5. Choose the correct backup file. Select the most recent backup from the dropdown menu in the dialog box. Ensure the date and time correspond to the version you wish to recover.
  6. Wait for the restore to complete. Click Restore and keep your device connected to the Mac throughout the duration of the transfer. Your iPhone will restart automatically once the process finishes.
