How to Transfer Photos to a New iPhone Without Duplicates

Learn how to migrate your photo library to a new iPhone effectively, ensuring zero duplicates and full image resolution preservation.

  1. Enable iCloud Photos on the source device. Navigate to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Photos. Ensure the toggle for Sync this iPhone is set to On. This ensures your entire library is unified before the transfer process begins.
  2. Confirm iCloud synchronization status. Open the Photos app and scroll to the bottom of the Library tab. Ensure the status indicates that your photos are fully synced with iCloud. If the status says 'Uploading' or 'Syncing', wait for completion to prevent mismatched metadata.
  3. Reset the destination iPhone. If the destination iPhone has already been set up, navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings. Starting from the Hello screen is the only way to guarantee a clean sync without file collision.
