How to Fix iPhone Storage Full

Free up space on your iPhone with these proven methods to clear system data, manage photos, and remove unused apps.

  1. Analyze storage consumption. Open Settings, tap General, and select iPhone Storage. Wait for the color-coded bar to load to identify which categories, such as Media, Apps, or System Data, occupy the most space.
  2. Enable iCloud Photos optimization. Navigate to Settings, tap Photos, and ensure iCloud Photos is toggled on. Select Optimize iPhone Storage to replace full-resolution images with device-sized versions while syncing originals to iCloud.
  3. Offload unused applications. In the iPhone Storage menu, scroll to the app list and tap an app you rarely use. Tap Offload App to remove the application binary while keeping your documents and data intact.
  4. Clear browser cache. Go to Settings, tap Safari, and scroll down to select Clear History and Website Data. Choose All History and confirm by tapping Clear History.
  5. Review large attachments. Open Messages, tap Filters, then tap Recently Deleted. Alternatively, go to Settings, General, iPhone Storage, and select Messages to review and delete large video attachments or voice notes that consume significant space.
  6. Force a system recalibration. Shut down your iPhone by holding the side button and volume up button, then sliding to power off. Restarting the device triggers the system to re-index files and clear temporary caches that the OS manages automatically.
