How to Restrict App Access to Your Photos on iPad

Secure your privacy on iPad by managing individual app permissions for your Photo library. Prevent apps from accessing your private images and videos.

  1. Open Privacy settings. Launch the Settings app from your Home Screen or Dock. Scroll down the left-hand sidebar and tap on Privacy & Security.
  2. Access Photo permissions. Under the Privacy & Security menu, locate and tap on Photos. This displays a comprehensive list of every application currently installed on your iPad that has requested access to your Photos library.
  3. Audit app access levels. Review the list of apps. Each app will display its current permission status: Full Access, Add Photos Only, or None. If you identify an app that does not require your photos to function, proceed to the next step.
  4. Restrict individual apps. Tap on the specific application you wish to modify. Select None from the list of options to completely revoke access. To limit access, choose Add Photos Only if you only want the app to save new files without viewing existing ones.
  5. Confirm permission changes. Return to the main Photos permissions list to ensure the app status has updated correctly. Once verified, close the Settings app. The changes take effect immediately across the system.
