Verifying File Integrity After iPad Data Transfer
Ensure your files moved successfully to your iPad. Learn how to verify data integrity, file counts, and folder structures post-transfer.
- Check storage capacity. Open the Settings app and navigate to General > iPad Storage. Compare the storage used on your iPad to the total size of the data moved from the source device to ensure no massive gaps exist.
- Review folder hierarchy in Files. Launch the Files app and select the Browse tab. Navigate into your primary transfer location and check that your directory structure remained preserved exactly as it appeared on your previous device.
- Verify file count and naming. Within the Files app, tap the More (...) icon in the top right corner and select View > As List. Compare the number of items and filenames against your source to ensure no batches were skipped during the migration process.
- Perform spot-check openings. Open three random files from different locations: one image, one PDF, and one spreadsheet. If these files render correctly, the file associations and permissions are correctly mapped.
- Sync with iCloud Drive. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Drive. Ensure the switch is toggled on to allow the iPad to reconcile the local transfer with your cloud-based state, preventing duplicate conflict files.
