How to Fix iPad Screen Rotation Issues
Troubleshoot iPad screen rotation issues with these precise steps. Resolve software glitches, check Orientation Lock, and force restart your device.
- Disable Orientation Lock. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center. Look for the Rotation Lock icon, represented by a padlock surrounded by a circular arrow. If the icon is highlighted red, tap it once to disable the lock and restore automatic rotation.
- Open a native application like Safari or Notes and rotate the iPad to landscape mode. Some third-party applications do not support portrait or landscape orientation by design. If the screen rotates in native apps but not in specific third-party apps, the issue is app-specific rather than a hardware fault.
- Press and quickly release the volume button nearest the top button. Press and quickly release the volume button furthest from the top button. Press and hold the top button until the Apple logo appears on the display.
- Navigate to Settings, select General, and tap Software Update. If an update is available, download and install it to resolve potential system-level bugs. Always ensure your iPad is connected to power during this process.
- Go to Settings, tap General, select Transfer or Reset iPad, and tap Reset. Choose Reset All Settings. This removes custom system configurations, including network settings and display preferences, without erasing your personal data.
