How to Fix iPad AirPrint Connectivity Issues

Troubleshoot AirPrint connectivity issues on iPad. Follow these steps to restore printer discovery and resume wireless printing on iPadOS.

  1. Confirm network parity. Ensure the iPad and the printer are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network. AirPrint relies on mDNS broadcast packets, which fail if the devices reside on different subnets or frequency bands.
  2. Power cycle hardware. Power off the printer, unplug it from the wall, and wait 30 seconds. Simultaneously, toggle Wi-Fi off on the iPad via Settings > Wi-Fi, wait, and toggle it back on.
  3. Update iPadOS software. Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. Ensure the iPad is running the latest version of iPadOS to maintain compatibility with modern network security protocols.
  4. Reset network settings. If the printer remains undiscoverable, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This removes saved Wi-Fi passwords and clears cached network configurations.
  5. Test the print queue. Open the document or image you intend to print. Tap the Share icon, select Print, and tap Select Printer to verify that the printer appears in the list.
