How to Verify Photos Transferred to Android

Confirm your photo migration was successful. Use these steps to audit file counts, folder structures, and metadata integrity on your Android device.

  1. Open the Files by Google application. Locate and launch the Files by Google app from your app drawer. If the app is not installed, download it from the Google Play Store to ensure a standard interface for directory navigation.
  2. Access the DCIM directory. Select the Browse tab at the bottom of the screen. Tap Internal Storage, then locate and open the folder named DCIM. This is the primary directory where Android stores camera captures and imported photo libraries.
  3. Compare folder structure and item counts. Verify that your expected subfolders appear within the DCIM or Pictures directory. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner, select View, and choose Details to observe the total file count for each folder.
  4. Validate image metadata. Open a sample image from the transferred set. Swipe up on the image or tap the info icon to display file details including resolution, date taken, and file size. Confirm this data matches the original source file properties.
  5. Check Google Photos integration. Open the Google Photos app and select the Library tab. Check if the transferred folders appear under the Photos on device section. If the folders are present but not syncing, tap the folder and toggle on the Back up switch.
