How to Verify Cellular and Data Connectivity After Switching Android Phones
Validate your new Android phone's call and data functionality with these precise verification steps to ensure network stability.
- Confirm SIM card and network registration. Ensure your physical SIM is seated correctly or your eSIM profile is active. Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs and verify your carrier name appears with signal bars in the status bar.
- Place an outbound test call. Open the Phone app and dial a known working number or your carrier's customer service line. Confirm you can hear audio clearly through the earpiece and that the other party can hear you.
- Perform an inbound call test. Use a secondary device to call your new phone number. Verify that the device rings, the display shows the incoming call notification, and the proximity sensor functions correctly by muting the screen during the call.
- Validate VoLTE and data connectivity. Disable Wi-Fi in the Quick Settings panel to force cellular data usage. Attempt to load a webpage in your browser; if successful, your data plan is active and VoLTE is likely functioning for high-definition calls.
