How to Organize Your Android App Drawer

Clean up your Android experience. Learn how to group applications into folders, remove icons, and reset your app drawer layout for maximum efficiency.

  1. Create application folders. Open the app drawer by swiping up from the bottom of your home screen. Press and hold an app icon, drag it directly on top of another app icon, and release to create a folder. Repeat this process to add more applications to the newly created folder.
  2. Remove apps from folders. Open the folder containing the app you wish to move. Press and hold the app icon, then drag it out of the folder boundaries toward the top or bottom of the screen. Release the icon to return it to the main app drawer grid.
  3. Hide unnecessary applications. Long-press the home screen and select Home settings or App drawer settings. Tap Hide apps, select the applications you want to remove from view, and tap Done. These apps remain installed but are no longer visible in your drawer.
  4. Adjust grid layout density. Navigate to Settings > Home screen or Wallpaper & style. Select App grid and choose your preferred column and row configuration. A higher number increases icon density, reducing the need for vertical scrolling.
  5. Uninstall unused applications. Identify apps you no longer use within the drawer. Press and hold the icon until the context menu appears, then select Uninstall or the 'X' icon. Confirm the removal to permanently delete the application and its data from your device.
