How to Increase Readability on Android

Optimize your Android device for better readability by adjusting font size, display scaling, and contrast settings in the system preferences.

  1. Modify font size. Open the Settings app and navigate to Display. Tap on Font size and use the slider at the bottom of the screen to increase the text dimensions to your preference. Changes apply globally to the system interface and supported apps.
  2. Adjust display size. Within the same Display menu, select Display size and text. Drag the slider to the right to increase the overall scaling of UI elements, icons, and menus. This adjustment works in tandem with font sizing to improve legibility.
  3. Enable high contrast text. Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Text and display. Toggle the switch for High contrast text to On. This creates a stronger outline around text, significantly improving clarity against background colors.
  4. Activate Night Light. Go to Settings > Display > Night Light. Toggle the switch to On to filter out blue light and apply a warmer tint to the display. You can schedule this to turn on automatically at sunset for consistent eye comfort.
  5. Configure Reading Mode. Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Reading mode. Enable the feature to add a persistent side-button accessibility shortcut. When active, this mode strips away clutter from web pages and provides a customizable high-contrast text overlay.
