How to Remotely Erase a Lost Android Device

Secure your data by remotely erasing a lost or stolen Android device using Google's Find My Device service. Follow these steps to protect your privacy.

  1. Navigate to the Find My Device portal. Open a web browser on any smartphone or computer. Visit the android.com/find URL and sign in using the Google account registered to your lost device.
  2. Select the target device. Once logged in, locate the device selection bar at the top or left side of the interface. Click on the icon representing your lost phone to display its current or last known location.
  3. Initiate the erase command. Review the options presented for your device. Select the Erase Device option to proceed with a permanent factory reset of all data on the internal storage.
  4. Authorize the factory reset. A secondary prompt will appear asking you to confirm the action. Select the Erase button again to finalize your choice. You may be asked to re-enter your Google password to verify identity.
  5. Confirm the status. If the device is online, the reset will trigger immediately. If the device is currently offline, the factory reset command will queue and execute the moment the device reconnects to a cellular or Wi-Fi network.
