How to Customize Your Android Home Screen
Master your Android home screen layout, widgets, and app icons with this step-by-step customization guide for a clean, efficient interface.
- Access Home Screen Settings. Long-press any empty space on your home screen to trigger the context menu. Select 'Home settings' to manage layout, grid density, and system-wide icon preferences.
- Modify Grid Density. Within the Home settings menu, locate the 'App grid' option. Drag the slider or select your preferred configuration, such as 4x5 or 5x5, to determine how many app icons occupy the screen space.
- Add and Resize Widgets. Long-press an empty area and tap 'Widgets'. Browse the list, select a widget, and drag it to your desired home screen page; long-press the widget once placed to reveal handles for resizing.
- Create App Folders. Drag one app icon directly on top of another app icon. Android will automatically generate a folder containing both applications, which you can rename by tapping the folder and selecting the title field.
- Apply Custom Wallpapers. Long-press an empty space and select 'Wallpaper & style'. Choose 'Change wallpaper' to select an image from your device storage or system-provided collections, then apply the change to 'Home screen' or both 'Home and lock screens'.
- Adjust Color Palette. Within 'Wallpaper & style', select 'Color palette'. Choose between 'Wallpaper colors' to sync your UI accents with your wallpaper tones or 'Basic colors' for a manual selection of system-wide themes.
