How to Clear System Data on Android
Reclaim storage space on your Android device by clearing hidden System Data and cache files using these precise manual steps.
- Enable Developer Options and USB Debugging. Navigate to Settings > About phone and tap Build number seven times until you see the confirmation message. Return to Settings > System > Developer options and toggle on USB debugging to allow command-line access to your file system.
- Initialize the ADB shell connection. Connect your Android device to a computer via a USB cable. Open your terminal or command prompt, type 'adb devices', and confirm that your device serial number appears in the list followed by the word 'device'.
- Identify cache directory utilization. Enter 'adb shell' to access the command-line interface of the device. Execute 'du -sh /data/cache' to determine how much storage is occupied by temporary system logs and cache fragments.
- Clear application and system cache. Exit the shell and run 'adb shell pm trim-caches 999999999999' to force the system to clear cached data for all installed applications. This command triggers the system maintenance service to reclaim storage without affecting user data.
- Perform a manual cache partition wipe. Power off the device. Hold Volume Down and Power simultaneously to enter Recovery Mode. Use the volume keys to navigate to 'Wipe cache partition' and press the Power button to confirm.
