How to Set Up Google Find My Device

Enable Google Find My Device on your Android phone to locate, lock, or erase it remotely when lost. Complete setup guide with privacy settings.

  1. Enable location services. Open Settings and tap Location. Toggle the switch to turn on location services. Tap Google Location Accuracy and enable Improve Location Accuracy to use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for more precise tracking.
  2. Verify Google account access. Open Settings and tap Google. Confirm your Google account is listed and active. If no account appears, tap Add account and sign in with your Google credentials.
  3. Enable Find My Device service. In Settings, tap Google then Find My Device. Toggle the switch to turn on Find My Device. Your phone will now be trackable through your Google account.
  4. Configure remote actions. Tap the settings icon in Find My Device. Enable Allow remote lock and erase to permit locking your screen or wiping data from the web interface. Enable Store recent location to save your device's last known position when the battery dies.
  5. Test the web interface. Open android.com/find on any web browser and sign in with the same Google account. Your device should appear on the map with its current location. Click your device to access ring, lock, and erase options.
  6. Install the Find My Device app. Download the Find My Device app from the Google Play Store on a secondary device. Sign in with your Google account to manage multiple devices from one location. The app provides the same functionality as the website with offline access to recent locations.
