How to Fix Missing Apps After Android Data Transfer

Restore missing applications after transferring data between Android devices. Follow these steps to sync your Google Play library and recover hidden apps.

  1. Verify Google Play synchronization. Open the Google Play Store on your new device and tap your profile icon in the top-right corner. Navigate to Settings > General and ensure that 'Add icon to Home screen' is toggled on. This setting forces the system to generate shortcuts for newly installed or restored applications.
  2. Check the hidden application list. Open your device Settings and navigate to Apps > See all apps. Scroll through the alphabetical list to determine if the application is installed but missing its home screen icon. If the app appears here, it is present on the device storage.
  3. Force a library refresh. In the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon and select Manage apps & device. Select the Manage tab, tap the 'Installed' filter, and change it to 'Not installed'. Locate the missing apps in this list and manually select them to trigger an immediate download to the new device.
  4. Disable restricted performance modes. Navigate to Settings > Battery > Battery Saver and ensure it is turned off. Some system power-saving profiles prevent background app restoration during the initial setup phase. Once disabled, restart your device to initiate the background installation queue.
  5. Clear Google Play Store cache. Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Google Play Store > Storage & cache. Tap Clear Cache, then tap Clear Storage. This action forces the Play Store to re-verify your account entitlements and sync your complete purchase and install history from Google servers.
