How to connect an Android device to Wi-Fi during setup

Follow these steps to connect your new Android device to a Wi-Fi network during the initial setup process to complete activation and system updates.

  1. Power on and select language. Press and hold the power button until the manufacturer logo appears on the screen. Once the Welcome screen displays, select your preferred language from the list and tap the Start or arrow button to proceed.
  2. Navigate to the Connect to Wi-Fi screen. Follow the on-screen prompts to accept terms and conditions or set up an eSIM if applicable. The setup assistant will automatically transition to the Connect to Wi-Fi screen once it searches for available local access points.
  3. Choose your network. Browse the list of available networks and tap the name (SSID) of your home or office Wi-Fi network. If your network is hidden, scroll to the bottom of the list and tap Add new network to enter the name manually.
  4. Enter your network password. When prompted, type your Wi-Fi password exactly as configured on your router. Tap the eye icon within the password field to toggle visibility and verify your characters before submitting.
  5. Verify the connection status. Tap the Connect button. The device will authenticate with the router and display a Connected status once successful. The setup process will automatically proceed to the checking for updates stage.
