How to Customize Google Sync Settings on Android

Take control of your data privacy. Learn how to selectively enable or disable Google account sync services on your Android device in these simple steps.

  1. Open system settings. Unlock your device and locate the Settings app. Tap the gear icon to launch the system configuration menu.
  2. Locate account management. Scroll down the settings list and select Passwords & accounts. If your device version differs, look for Users & accounts or simply Accounts.
  3. Choose your Google account. Tap the specific Google account you wish to manage from the list. If you have multiple accounts signed in, perform these steps for each one individually.
  4. Modify sync preferences. Select Account sync. You will see a list of services including Calendar, Contacts, Drive, and Gmail. Toggle the switch next to each service to enable or disable real-time synchronization.
  5. Force an immediate sync. To ensure current changes reflect immediately, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner. Select Sync now to push or pull pending data based on your updated settings.
