Fixing Android Wi-Fi Connected Without Internet Access
Resolve Android Wi-Fi connectivity issues where devices show connection but fail to load web data using these specific troubleshooting steps.
- Power cycle your networking hardware. Disconnect your router and modem from the power source. Wait at least 30 seconds before reconnecting the power cables. Allow the hardware to fully reboot and re-establish the wide area network signal.
- Refresh the Android radio state. Open the Quick Settings panel by swiping down from the top of your screen. Tap the Airplane Mode icon to enable it, wait 10 seconds, then tap it again to disable it. This forces the device to drop and re-negotiate all local connections.
- Re-establish the network handshake. Navigate to Settings > Network & internet > Internet. Tap the gear icon next to your current Wi-Fi network and select Forget. Reconnect to the network by selecting it from the list and re-entering the security password.
- Assign static DNS servers. In the Wi-Fi network settings, tap Edit. Set the IP Settings to Static. Scroll down to DNS 1 and enter 8.8.8.8, then set DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4. Save your changes and verify if the internet connection is active.
- Clear network adapter settings. Go to Settings > System > Reset options. Select Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. Tap Reset settings and confirm when prompted. This removes all saved networks, paired devices, and customized network preferences.
