How to Clear Browser Cookies

Browser cookies store login information, preferences, and tracking data that can accumulate over time. Clearing cookies resolves login problems, removes tracking data, and frees up storage space.

  1. Open your browser's settings menu. In Chrome, click the three dots in the top right corner and select Settings. In Firefox, click the hamburger menu and choose Settings. In Safari, click Safari in the menu bar and select Preferences. In Edge, click the three dots and select Settings.
  2. Navigate to privacy and security options. In Chrome, click Privacy and security from the left sidebar. In Firefox, select Privacy & Security from the left panel. In Safari, click the Privacy tab. In Edge, select Privacy, search, and services from the left menu.
  3. Access cookie management options. In Chrome, click Clear browsing data. In Firefox, scroll to Cookies and Site Data and click Clear Data. In Safari, click Manage Website Data. In Edge, click Choose what to clear under Clear browsing data.
  4. Select the time range for deletion. Choose your desired time frame from the dropdown menu. Select Last hour for recent cookies, Last 24 hours for daily cleanup, Last 7 days for weekly maintenance, or All time to remove everything. Safari requires manual selection of individual sites or Remove All to clear everything.
  5. Choose cookie-specific options. Ensure Cookies and other site data is checked in Chrome and Edge. In Firefox, verify Cookies is selected. Uncheck other items like browsing history or cached images if you only want to remove cookies. Leave other options checked if you want a complete cleanup.
  6. Confirm the deletion. Click Clear data in Chrome and Edge, or Clear in Firefox. In Safari, click Remove or Remove All after selecting websites. The browser will process the request and display a confirmation message when complete.
  7. Restart your browser. Close all browser windows completely and reopen the browser. This ensures all cookie data is properly cleared from memory and prevents any temporary files from remaining active.
