How to Transfer Streaming Apps and Accounts to a New Device
Learn the most efficient method to migrate your streaming services, profiles, and app configurations to a new smart TV or streaming player.
- Sync your current environment. On your existing device, ensure cloud synchronization is enabled for your app data. On Apple TV, navigate to Settings > Users and Accounts > iCloud and toggle On for Home Screen Sync. For Android-based devices, go to Settings > Accounts & Sign-in and verify your Google account is actively syncing application data.
- Initialize the new hardware. Power on the new device and connect it to your network via Settings > Network. Once connected, sign in with the same account provider used on your previous hardware. Use your mobile device to scan the QR code displayed on the screen to accelerate the authentication process.
- Verify streaming subscriptions. Open a primary streaming app like Netflix or Disney+ on the new device. Select the 'Sign In' option and choose the 'Web Activation' method if available. Enter the provided code on your computer or phone browser to link your active subscription instantly without re-entering credentials.
- Configure single sign-on. Navigate to Settings > Users and Accounts > TV Provider on your device. Select your cable or digital service provider and enter your credentials once. This will grant all compatible streaming apps access to your provider authentication, automatically signing you into network-specific apps.
- Decommission the old device. Before donating or selling your old hardware, perform a factory reset. Navigate to Settings > System > Reset and select 'Reset All Settings.' This clears your personal data, unlinks your accounts, and removes all installed applications from the internal storage.
