How to Conceal TV Cables for a Clean Setup
Learn professional methods to hide TV cables safely and achieve a minimalist look using cord covers, wall-rated kits, and cable management accessories.
- Map the cable path. Identify the shortest distance from the TV to the power outlet and peripheral devices. Ensure the path is free of wall studs by using a stud finder to prevent structural interference.
- Install surface-mount raceways. Clean the wall surface to ensure adhesive strips bond correctly. Peel the backing from the cable raceway, press firmly against the wall, and snap the decorative cover over the routed cables.
- Prepare in-wall access points. If opting for in-wall routing, use a drywall saw to cut holes at the desired TV and outlet heights. Insert a low-voltage mounting bracket into each cutout to create a secure frame.
- Fish cables through the wall. Feed a fish tape from the top cutout to the bottom. Attach your HDMI and ethernet cables to the end of the tape, wrap securely in electrical tape, and pull them through the wall cavity.
- Install the in-wall power kit. Insert the male end of your power relocation kit into the bottom mounting bracket and the female end into the top bracket. Connect the internal extension cord between the two plates inside the wall.
- Manage external cord slack. Use adhesive cable clips or velcro ties to bundle any remaining slack behind the TV mount. Ensure no cables are pinched or stretched when the TV is pushed flush against the wall.
