How to Determine Your TV VESA Mount Size
Learn how to accurately measure your TV's VESA mount pattern to ensure compatibility with wall mounts and stands.
- Prepare the workspace. Power off the television and disconnect all cables. Place the unit face down on a flat, soft surface, such as a bed or a carpeted floor, to protect the screen from scratches.
- Identify the mounting holes. Locate the four threaded screw holes on the rear of the television chassis. These are typically arranged in a perfect square or rectangular pattern at the center of the unit.
- Measure the horizontal distance. Use a measuring tape to measure the distance between the centers of the two top screw holes. Ensure your measurement is in millimeters, as VESA standards are strictly metric.
- Measure the vertical distance. Measure the distance from the center of the top screw hole to the center of the bottom screw hole on the same side. This distance confirms the height of the mounting pattern.
- Format the VESA size. Combine the horizontal and vertical measurements in millimeters to get your VESA pattern. For example, if your measurements are 400mm horizontal and 200mm vertical, your VESA size is 400 x 200.
- Cross-reference with manufacturer documentation. Check the TV’s user manual or search the model number on the manufacturer's website. Verify that your measured VESA pattern matches the technical specifications listed by the manufacturer.
