- Determine the connection protocol. Decide between a proprietary physical connector or Bluetooth. Physical connectors utilize the tablet's smart pins for power and zero-latency input, while Bluetooth keyboards require periodic charging and may suffer from millisecond-level input lag.
- Assess key travel and tactile feedback. Evaluate the key switch mechanism for tactile response. Look for a minimum of 1.0mm of key travel to ensure a comfortable typing experience during extended sessions, as shallow keys often lack necessary sensory feedback.
- Verify trackpad integration. Determine if the case includes a precision trackpad with multi-touch gesture support. Ensure the trackpad surface is made of glass or high-grade polymer to minimize friction and support native tablet OS cursor acceleration.
