How to Configure Privacy Zones on Your Security Camera

Learn how to block specific areas from recording to protect privacy and reduce false motion alerts using digital masking.

  1. Access your device settings. Open the companion application for your security camera on your mobile device. Navigate to the camera dashboard and tap the Gear icon in the upper right corner to enter the device settings menu.
  2. Locate the privacy zone menu. Select the Video or Motion settings category. Look for the label titled Privacy Zones, Masking, or Excluded Areas.
  3. Define the blocked area. Tap the Add Zone or plus (+) button to overlay a digital box on your camera's live feed. Drag the corners or edges of the rectangle to cover the specific windows, doors, or public areas you wish to black out.
  4. Commit the changes. Review the mask placement on the screen to ensure the desired area is fully obscured. Tap the Save or Done button in the top corner to apply the settings to the camera's processing engine.
  5. Test the motion detection. Walk through the area you have masked or have a secondary person move within the zone. Observe the camera feed to confirm that the movement is either hidden or does not trigger a motion alert notification.
