How to Share Matter Devices Across Multiple Smart Home Ecosystems

Learn how to connect your Matter-enabled smart home devices to multiple apps and platforms simultaneously using Matter Multi-Admin pairing codes.

  1. Generate a pairing code in the primary app. Open the app currently controlling the device. Navigate to the device settings menu, select 'Matter' or 'Linked Services', and tap 'Share Device' or 'Add to another service' to generate a temporary 11-digit numeric pairing code or QR code.
  2. Open the secondary ecosystem app. Launch the application you intend to add the device to, such as Google Home, Apple Home, or Amazon Alexa. Select the option to add a new device or accessory.
  3. Select the Matter setup method. When prompted to scan a code, look for the 'Enter setup code' or 'Manual entry' option. Input the 11-digit code generated by the primary app.
  4. Complete the device authorization. Follow the on-screen prompts to identify the device and assign it to a room within the secondary ecosystem. The secondary app will verify the Matter credentials and sync the device state.
  5. Test cross-platform responsiveness. Toggle the device status in the secondary app to ensure commands execute correctly. Confirm that the state change reflects across both the primary and secondary applications.
