How to Set Up an Epson EcoTank Printer

Epson EcoTank printers require initial ink filling and software installation before first use. This process takes about 30 minutes and includes tank filling, driver installation, and network connection.

  1. Unpack and position the printer. Remove all packaging materials including orange tape from the scanner unit and print head area. Place the printer on a flat surface within range of your Wi-Fi network. Connect the power cable and press the power button.
  2. Fill the ink tanks. Open the ink tank cover on the right side of the printer. Remove caps from the four ink bottles included in the box. Insert each bottle into its corresponding color-coded tank opening and squeeze gently until the tank reaches the upper fill line. The process takes 5-10 minutes per color.
  3. Run the initial ink charging. Close the ink tank cover and press the power button if the printer is off. The printer will automatically begin charging the print head with ink. This process takes 10-15 minutes and cannot be interrupted. The LCD screen will display progress updates.
  4. Download and install printer drivers. Visit epson.com/support and search for your specific EcoTank model number. Download the latest driver package for your operating system. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts to complete driver installation.
  5. Connect to Wi-Fi network. Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer's control panel. Select your network name from the list displayed on the LCD screen. Enter your Wi-Fi password using the navigation buttons and OK button. The Wi-Fi light will turn solid blue when connected successfully.
  6. Add printer to your computer. Open Settings > Printers & scanners on Windows or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners on Mac. Click Add Printer and select your EcoTank model from the detected devices list. Complete the setup wizard to finish printer registration.
  7. Print alignment and test pages. Load plain paper in the paper tray. From your computer's printer settings, select Print Test Page to verify basic functionality. Then run Print Head Alignment from the printer's maintenance menu to ensure optimal print quality.
