How to Transfer Data from Android to iPhone

A precise guide to migrating your contacts, photos, and data from Android to iPhone using the Move to iOS app during initial setup.

  1. Prepare your devices. Connect both your Android device and your new iPhone to a power source. Ensure your Wi-Fi is enabled on the Android device and that you have the Move to iOS app installed from the Google Play Store.
  2. Start the iPhone setup process. Power on your new iPhone and follow the on-screen prompts until you reach the Apps & Data screen. Select the option labeled Move Data from Android.
  3. Generate the connection code. On your iPhone, a code will appear—either a ten-digit or six-digit sequence. Open the Move to iOS app on your Android device and tap Continue, then enter the code displayed on your iPhone.
  4. Establish the peer-to-peer network. Your iPhone will create a temporary, private Wi-Fi network. Tap Join on your Android device when prompted to connect to this network, then wait for the Transfer Data screen to appear.
  5. Choose content to migrate. Select the specific content categories you wish to move, such as Contacts, Message History, Camera Photos, and Google Account data. Tap Continue to initiate the transfer process.
  6. Finalize the data transfer. Allow both devices to remain untouched until the loading bar on the iPhone finishes. Once the iPhone indicates the transfer is complete, tap Done on your Android device and Continue on your iPhone to finish the remaining iOS setup steps.
