If you haven't changed these, check the router label for default credentials or try 'admin/admin' or 'admin/password'.

  4. Download the latest firmware. Visit your router manufacturer's support website. Search for your exact router model using the model number from step 3. Download the latest firmware file for your specific model and hardware version. Save the file to your computer's desktop for easy access.
  5. Prepare for the update. Connect your computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. Disable Wi-Fi on your computer to prevent connection interruptions. Close all other browser tabs and applications to free up system resources during the update process.
  6. Upload and install firmware. In the router admin panel, find Firmware Update, Router Update, or Administration section. Click Browse or Choose File and select the firmware file you downloaded. Click Upload or Update to begin installation. Do not power off or disconnect during this process.
  7. Verify the update. After the router reboots, wait 2-3 minutes then refresh your browser or navigate back to the admin panel. Log in again and check the System Information section. Confirm the firmware version matches the update you installed. Test your internet connection to ensure everything works properly.
