How to Set Up Eero Mesh Network

Eero mesh systems eliminate WiFi dead zones by creating a seamless network using multiple access points throughout your home. This guide covers the complete setup process from unboxing to optimization.

1. Download the Eero app and create an account. Install the Eero app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Open the app and tap 'Set up a new network' then create an Eero account with your email address. Verify your email when prompted.
2. Connect your gateway Eero to the modem. Unplug your existing router and modem for 30 seconds. Connect your modem to the Eero gateway unit using the included Ethernet cable. Plug the Eero into power and wait for the LED to turn solid white.
3. Add the gateway Eero in the app. In the Eero app, tap 'Add or replace Eero devices' then scan the QR code on the bottom of your gateway Eero. The app will detect the device and begin the setup process automatically.
4. Configure your network name and password. Enter your desired network name and WiFi password when prompted. Choose a password with at least 8 characters including letters, numbers, and symbols. The app will apply these settings to your gateway Eero.
5. Test the gateway connection. Wait for the gateway Eero LED to turn solid white, then run the speed test in the app by tapping 'Test your speed'. Ensure you're getting expected speeds from your internet service provider before adding additional nodes.
6. Place and add additional Eero nodes. Position additional Eero units in central locations throughout your home, ideally 30-40 feet from the gateway and each other. Plug each node into power and wait for the LED to turn solid white. Add each node in the app by scanning their QR codes.
7. Run network optimization. Once all nodes are added, tap 'Optimize network' in the Eero app. This scans for the best wireless channels and adjusts settings automatically. Test WiFi speed and coverage in different areas of your home to verify performance.
