How to Configure Your Laptop Stand for Ergonomics

Optimize your workspace with these precise steps to set up your laptop stand for improved posture, eye alignment, and thermal efficiency.

  1. Clear your workspace surface. Remove all clutter from your desk to ensure the stand remains stable. Place the stand on a flat, non-slip surface directly in front of your primary seated position.
  2. Set the stand height. Loosen the tension knobs or pull the riser arms to adjust the height. The top third of your laptop screen should be perfectly aligned with your natural eye level when you are sitting upright.
  3. Adjust the tilt angle. Tilt the laptop platform to an angle that allows for comfortable viewing without glare. Aim for an angle between 20 and 30 degrees to minimize wrist extension if you are using the laptop keyboard in an emergency, though external peripherals are recommended.
  4. Place your laptop on the stand, ensuring the rear edges are locked against the stand's security hooks or rubber grips. Gently press down on the device to verify it is balanced and does not tip forward.
  5. Connect external peripherals. Place your external keyboard and mouse on the desk surface at a height that allows your elbows to maintain a 90-degree angle. Pair your devices via Bluetooth or connect them to your USB-C hub.
