How to Use MoCA to Extend Your Home Network

Use your existing coaxial cabling to create a high-speed wired network throughout your home with MoCA adapters.

  1. Install the Point of Entry filter. Locate the main cable box where the service provider line enters your home. Install the MoCA Point of Entry (PoE) filter directly onto the input port of your primary signal splitter to prevent your network signal from leaking outside.
  2. Connect the primary adapter to the router. Attach a coaxial cable from your wall jack to the Coax port on your first MoCA adapter. Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of your router to the Ethernet port on the MoCA adapter, then connect the power adapter.
  3. Verify the primary adapter status. Wait for the Power and Coax LEDs on the adapter to turn solid green or white, depending on your manufacturer model. A blinking status indicates a search for a signal, while solid lights confirm the adapter is active on the coaxial network.
  4. Install secondary adapters in remote rooms. Move to the room where you require a wired connection. Connect a coaxial cable from the wall jack to the Coax port on your second adapter, then connect the power cable.
  5. Establish the network link. Wait for the Coax LED to stabilize on the secondary adapter. Once the light is solid, connect your computer, game console, or access point to the Ethernet port on the adapter to gain network access.
