How to Pair Sony Headphones with Your Device

Sony wireless headphones use Bluetooth to connect with your devices for audio playback and calls. The pairing process puts your headphones into discoverable mode, allowing your device to find and establish a secure connection.

  1. Power on your Sony headphones. Press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds until you hear the startup sound or see the indicator light turn on. Most Sony models will announce 'Power on' through the speakers. The indicator light typically glows blue or white when active.
  2. Enter pairing mode. Press and hold the power button for 7 seconds until you hear 'Bluetooth pairing' or see the indicator light flash blue and red alternately. On some models like the WH-1000XM series, you may need to hold the power button until you hear two beeps followed by the pairing announcement.
  3. Open Bluetooth settings on your device. Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth on iOS or Android, System Preferences > Bluetooth on macOS, or Settings > Devices > Bluetooth on Windows. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and your device is discoverable.
  4. Select your Sony headphones from the device list. Look for your headphone model name in the available devices list. Sony headphones typically appear as 'WH-1000XM4', 'WF-1000XM3', or similar model numbers. Tap or click on the name to initiate pairing.
  5. Confirm the pairing connection. Your device will attempt to connect, and you should hear 'Bluetooth connected' from your Sony headphones within 10-15 seconds. The indicator light will change to solid blue or turn off completely, depending on your model.
  6. Test the audio connection. Play music or a video from your device to verify the audio is routing through your Sony headphones. Adjust the volume using either your device controls or the headphone buttons to ensure both volume controls are working properly.
